Positive Psychology
Positive psychology (PP) is a branch of psychology that focuses on our optimal functioning but focusing on positive experience, attitudes, and individual traits. Positive psychology differs from other forms of psychology in that PP focuses on the inherent good we posses and abilities we have rather than the abnormal functioning or mental illness we may face. That is not to say that mental health or illness is not accounted for in PP, but rather that we choose to focus on positive aspects of our individual selves that can help make living life just a bit easier.
Positive psychology is a huge field of study developed by Martin Seligman and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, who define the field as "the scientific study of positive human functioning and flourishing on multiple levels that include the biological, personal, relational, institutional, cultural, and global dimensions of life."Â
